It took eleven innings but the Mavs found a way to secure their fifth win in a row on Thursday night at Northwestern. The Mavs (13-10) scored twice in the top of the first on two-out, RBI singles by Aiden Riser and Rhett Clarkson. After Northwestern jumped out in front in the bottom of the second, the Mav's offense got back to work in the fourth. Riser led off the inning with a double and would end up scoring on a wild pitch. Brennan Johnson brought home another run with a RBI double while a Blake Morrison SAC fly and a Jake Winger fielder's choice capped the four run inning for the Mavs. That would conclude the scoring on either side until the top of the eleventh when Jackson Lancaster got the Mavs started with a pinch-hit single to center. Singles by Morrison and Winger along a double by Riser highlighted an inning that saw the Mavs plate eight runs. Wyatt Vaughn and Riser would combine to throw eight scoreless innings to finish the game. The senior duo combined to strikeout ten Tiger hitters while allowing five hits and issuing three walks. Riser led the way offensively with four hits and four RBI. Winger finished with three hits and three RBI. Zayne Newgent contributed three hits and scored two runs while Clarkson had two hits, a RBI and a run for the Mavs.
