The Mavs (6-7) scored seven unanswered runs on their way to victory over Lafayette Jeff on Monday night. Zayne Newgent got the scoring started in the top of the second with a two-out single to center scoring Sammy Swank who had singled earlier in the inning. The Mavs would tie the game with two more runs in the top of the third. After loading the bases with nobody out, Mekyel Almond brought home a run with a SAC fly to left and Rhett Clarkson brought home another with a single. Two runs in both the top of the fourth and sixth would give the Mavs the lead for good. Jake Winger finished with a double, home run and two RBI. Swank and Aiden Riser each had two hits on the night. Reed Grimes picked up the win for the Mavs throwing a complete game. Grimes allowed only one hit on the night, with none after the first inning, while striking out six and walking two. The Mavs return home for a rematch with the Bronchos Tuesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
