The Mavs (1-3) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead against 3A #4 Guerin Catholic before ultimately falling 7-4 Wednesday night. The Mavs got on the board when Jonathan Riley stole second base with two outs and Mekyel Almond singled him home with a base hit to right. Guerin answered back in the bottom of the second with five runs and added a single run in the fourth. The Mavs inched closer in the top of the fifth. After consecutive singles by Aiden Riser and Jake Winger to start the inning, Riley doubled to the left field wall to score Riser. Almond then knocked in his second RBI with a groundout and Rhett Clarkson added a RBI single to center to make the score 6-4. Almond, Winger, Riser, Clarkson, and Riley all added two hits while Jackson Lancaster collected his first career hit. The Mavs return to action Friday night as they travel to Monticello to take on the Twin Lakes Indians at 6:00 pm.
