Class of 2009 graduate Nick Wittgren has retired from professional baseball after a career that saw him pitch eight seasons in the Major Leagues. Wittgren accumulated 20 Major League wins and 6 saves across 329.1 innings pitched. He fanned 300 hitters while issuing just 97 walks in his time with the Marlins, Guardians, Cardinals and Royals. As a Mav, Wittgren led the team in hitting both his junior and senior seasons while also helping the team capture two sectional titles and one regional. Nick went on to play one season at Parkland College before attending Purdue University where he was selected in the 9th round of the 2012 MLB draft by the Miami Marlins.
