Congratulations to AmFam Adsit Agency Student-Athletes of the Week: Rylea Wetz & Conner Gamble! Rylea, a senior on the Lady Maverick Basketball, had a fantastic senior year for the team this season. Ms. Wetz's hard-work and clutch play helped lead the Mavericks to their first Semi-State bid since 2011. In the Regional Championship game versus FW Snider, Rylea's play down the stretch of the 4th quarter cemented the Maverick's 45-41 victory. In that game, Rylea scored 12 points and pulled down 4 rebounds. Rylea is a year-round athlete at McCutcheon who also excels at Volleyball and Track & Field! Rylea is also a busy student in the classroom where the Senior carries an excellent 3.78 cumulative GPA! Great work on the court, and in the classroom, Rylea! Conner, a sophomore on the Maverick Boys Basketball team, has steadily been improving his game this year. Mr. Gamble has started most of the season on the JV, however, recently he has earned extended varsity minutes through his hard work and ability to execute the game plan. Conner excels on the defensive end with his length, and he also has the ability to extend the defense with his consistent jump shot. Conner's blue-collar style of play has helped lead the Mavs to win 9 of their last 11 games! Conner is also an elite competitor in the classroom where the sophomore carries a near-perfect 3.96 cumulative GPA! That's getting it done on the court and in the classroom, Conner!
