Congratulations to AmFam Adsit Agency Student-Athletes of the Week: Emma Spear & Jaxon Akridge! Emma, a senior Gymnast for the Mavericks, has been a point-scoring machine for McCutcheon! At last week's meet versus Harrison, Ms. Spear took home three 1st place finishes in her events, including earning first place in the All-Around. Emma is the lone upperclassman on her squad, and it is the first year she's competed with an entire team of Mavs in her high school career. Coach Johnson has lauded Emma's hard work and leadership this season as a big reason for the Mavs' early successes. Emma is also a tremendous leader in the classroom, where the senior carries a near-perfect 3.94 cumulative GPA! Great work in the gym, in mid-air, and in the classroom, Emma! Jaxon, a standout senior Swimmer for the Mavericks, has had a tremendous first half of the season. Mr. Akridge has placed in the top two in each of his events this season, sweeping his races last week versus Lafayette Jeff. Coach Cox praises Jaxon for his consistent hard work and for the leadership example he sets for the younger members of the team. Jaxon is also adept at scoring in the classroom where the Senior carries a sterling 3.98 cumulative GPA! Fantastic work in the pool and in the classroom, Jaxon!
