A single run in the top of the first was enough for the Mavs (21-4) to hold on for a 1-0 win Saturday afternoon at Loeb Stadium. With one out in the top of first Riley Sands drove a 2-0 pitch over the wall in right field to give the Mavs the lead that they would not surrender. Sammy Swank (4-0) picked up the win with a complete game shutout that saw him strikeout thirteen Raider hitters while only giving up four hits and three walks. The Raiders threatened in the bottom of the sixth with runners at second and third with one out only to see Swank get a strikeout and induce a ground out to retire the side. Sands finished the game with three hits while Jake Winger and Aiden Riser also added singles. The Mavs now advance to the sectional championship game on Monday against the Logansport Berries. First pitch is scheduled at 12:00 pm once again at Loeb Stadium.
