The Mavs (20-4) used a thirteen run second inning to seize a 16-8 victory in Crawfordsville on Monday night. The pivotal inning saw seventeen Mavs step in the box. The offensive outburst was highlighted by RBI drag bunt singles by Riley Evans and Riley Sands, a 3-RBI double by Jake Winger, an RBI single by Broderick Arnold as well as another 3-RBI double this time by Sands hitting for the second time in the inning. Seven Mavs recorded hits on the night led by two each from Sands, Winger, Evans, and Jonathan Riley. Aiden Earley and Aiden Riser each scored two runs. Owen Smith added a double while Parker Nangle added a RBI single to right center. Rylee Piggott picked up his first win of the season with a scoreless inning of relief. Reed Grimes made his varsity debut with a ten pitch scoreless bottom of the fourth. The Mavs open postseason play Saturday at Loeb Stadium against the Harrison Raiders. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
