The Mavs (17-2) scored five runs over the first two innings and held on for a 6-4 victory over Hamilton Heights in Arcadia on Thursday night. Sage Adams and Riley Sands led off the game with consecutive singles before Jake Winger drove in Adams on a RBI single to right. A wild pitch brought home Sands before a Aiden Riser fielder's choice scored Winger. In the top of the second, Adams and Sands once again got things started for the Mavs with Adams drawing a walk and Sands singling. Logan Marsell then drove in Adams with a RBI single before Winger added another RBI single scoring Sands. Eight Mavs recorded hits on the night led by Sands three and two each from Marsell, Winger, Jonathan Riley, and Riser. Adams scored three runs from his leadoff spot. Owen Smith turned in a strong outing on the mound recording eight strikeouts in five innings on his way to picking up this fifth win of the year. RJ Morrison recorded the first two outs of the sixth inning before handing the reins over to Wyatt Vaughn who earned his fourth save. Vaughn worked the last 1.1 innings and recorded two strikeouts. The Mavs return to play on Friday as they travel to Lizton to take on the Tri-West Bruins. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
