The JV Mavs improved to 10-4 on the season after a visit to North Montgomery defeating the Chargers 6-1. Taking a 3-0 lead in the top the 2nd, the Mavs never trailed in the game. The inning led off with a Sam Hoggard hit by pitch. Cason Trader laid a sac bunt to move Hoggard into scoring position. Jonah Fritchley immediately followed with an RBI single scoring Hoggard. Deacon Anthrop drew a walk putting runners at first and second with one out. Zayne Newgent pressured the defense with a hard groundball in the 5/6 hole drawing a throwing error scoring both Fritchley and Anthrop. After scoring another run in the 4th by way of a Zayne Newgent Sacrifice Fly, Rhett Clarkson added some insurance with a 2 run Homerun to Right Field in the 7th to take the lead 6-1. Seven pitchers led the way to victory for the JV Mavs only giving up 1 run. They combined to fan 9 Charger hitters and only allowed two walks throughout. Cason Trader, Cade Burkhalter, Royce Clevenger, Zach Morgan, Isaac Morrison, Brodyn Sharp, and Kaden Sharp all worked their one inning respectively to keep North Montgomery receiving different looks and attacking hitters with a clean defense behind them not committing a single error all game. The JV Mavs will travel to Avon for a 6pm start on Monday beginning a week of 5 games on the schedule!
