The Mavs (9-0) overcame an early deficit to claim a 10-5 victory on Friday at the Mav Baseball Complex. Seniors Noah Lyons and RJ Morrison limited the damage early which allowed the Mavs to tie the game at five in the bottom of the third. Morrison (1-0) picked up the win with 3.1 innings of solid relief and combined with Wyatt Vaughn to hold the Kougars scoreless over the last four innings. Vaughn picked up the save after stranding the tying run at second to end the top of the sixth and throwing a 1-2-3 top of the seventh that included two strikeouts. A four run bottom of the sixth gave the Mavs some cushion highlighted by a Logan Marsell 2-RBI single to right field. Marsell finished with two hits, two RBI and scored three times. Sage Adams and Riley Sands each scored twice while Jake Winger added two RBI.
