The Mavs (5-0) earned a hard fought victory on a wet Wednesday evening at the Mav Baseball Complex. Single runs in the first and fifth combined with five scoreless innings from starter Owen Smith gave the Mavs a 2-0 lead through five. After Logansport tied the game in the top of the sixth, the Mav offense once again used the big inning to break the game open in the bottom half. Walks to Riley Evans, Sage Adams, and Logan Marsell loaded the bases for Jake Winger who proceeded to double off the centerfield wall driving in three runs. Blake Morrison capped the scoring with his second double of the night to bring home courtesy runner Braxton Leon. Winger finished the night with two hits and four RBI while also picking up the win in relief of Smith. The busy week for the Mavs continues Friday as the Twin Lakes Indians will visit the Mav Baseball Complex for a 6:00 first pitch.
