Wild Pitch seals JV Mavs comeback win in season opener

The JV Mavs trailed by as many as 4 runs, but fought back to beat Logansport 5-4. After 3 complete the Mavs trailed 4-0. After a walk by Cason Trader, Jonah Fritchley executed a sacrifice bunt which then led to an error with aggressive baserunning by Trader trying to advance to Third Base to scratch their first run of the game. A triple by Sam Hoggard, a double by Jackson Lancaster, and a groundout by Kaden Sharp all helped tie the game at 4 in the 5th for the Mavs. Zayne Newgent started on the mound and completed 3IP Striking out 6. Cade Burkhalter and Royce Clevenger combined to throw 4 innings of shutout baseball in relief. In the bottom of the 7th with a 1-1 count and 2 outs, a wild pitch from Logansport allowed Sam Hoggard to score from Third finishing the comeback victory to open the season. The Mavs will travel to Logansport for their next game on Wednesday with a first pitch scheduled for 5:30 at Turner Field.
