Big inning propels Mavs past Berries

The Mavs (4-0) broke open a back and forth game with a ten run top of the 6th inning to earn the victory at Jim Turner Field Tuesday night. The pivotal 6th inning was kickstarted by a pinch hit, leadoff walk by Blake Morrison and saw a total of fourteen Mav hitters come to the plate. For the game, Jake Winger collected two hits, including his first HR of the year as well as three RBI. Riley Sands scored three runs to go along with two hits. Logan Marsell, Jonathan Riley and Owen Smith collected two RBI apiece. In addition to his two hits offensively, Aiden Riser (1-0) picked up the win on the mound by striking out seven in four innings of work surrendering just one earned run. The Mavs return back to the Mav Baseball Complex Wednesday where they will face Logansport in game two of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
