The Boys Basketball Team took the time on Tuesday night (2.20.24) to recognize six outstanding McCutcheon educators who have made a big impact on their academic and athletic careers. Members of the team showed their appreciation for their teachers by offering up some kind words in a handwritten note along with having them acknowledged at halftime of the game versus Muncie Central. Here's what the Mavericks had to say about their favorite teachers: Ms. Becca Crum - Nominated by SR Derrick Peete, "Ms. Crum has always been there for me to help when I needed it. She puts her students first. Ms. Crum is genuine, kind, and loving towards all of her students. Everyone's day is made brighter by having class with her." Mr. Tim O'Shea - Nominated by JR Owen Souligne, " Mr. O'Shea is always there for his students and is someone that we can talk to. He is also very respectful and makes class fun to be in each day. Thank you, Mr. O'Shea, for everything you do for your students here at McCutcheon." Mr. Jack Barron - Nominated by SR Parker Sorrells, "Mr. Barron shows a lot of dedication, passion, and commitment to educating his students in the classroom. The environment he creates in his classes is not just one for learning but where students can have fun and be themselves. He is very open about his own life experiences in classes like personal finance and often relates them to the real world." Mr. Brandon Ruemler - Nominated by SR Noah Lyons, "Coach Ruemler has helped create a strong culture at McCutcheon. His dedication to the school and students at McCutcheon has created a safe place for me and many other McCutcheon students. Coach Ruemler is somebody who embodies all of the characteristics of Mav P.R.I.D.E. without any effort at all. He helps drive students to be their best inside and outside of the classroom. He is very relatable to all his students, and I greatly appreciate everything he has done for me." Mr. Drew Martin - Nominated by JR Lonnie Griffin, "Mr. Coach Martin, I would like to start off by thanking you for taking me in as one of your own. Also, I would like to thank you for being that role model for me in and outside of school. Everyone looks up to you because of your kindness and personality, thank you for being you." Mr. Kevin Krooswyk - Nominated by JR Shamar Ray, "Kroos is a person that I can talk to when I am happy or unhappy. He is the reason I wanted to play football at McCutcheon and he is my favorite teacher and coach at McCutcheon since I’ve been here."
