Congratulations to AmFam Insurance - Adsit Agency Student-Athletes of the Week: Kalea Washington & Cole Chicoine! Kalea, a junior center on the Lady Mavs Basketball team, had a fantastic end-of-the-season run for McCutcheon. Ms. Washington used her length, defensive intensity, and rebounding prowess to help propel the Lady Mavs to a Sectional Championship and Regional Final appearance! Kalea's late-game pressure FTs in the Sectional Championship versus Harrison were a crucial part of the Maverick's 51-49 victory On the season, Kalea averaged 3.2 ppg, 9.1 rpg, & 1.7 stl/g. Kalea is also a great student, as she carries a respectable 3.35 cumulative GPA! Awesome work on the court and in school, Kalea! Cole, a senior grappler on the Wrestling team, earned a return trip to the IHSAA State Finals after he placed 3rd in the highly competitive East Chicago Semi-State! Mr. Chicoine lost a tough semi-final bout (9-7) that was a rematch of last year's State Championship title match in the 220 division. Cole quickly refocused his energy into easily winning his 3rd place match. Chicoine will now travel to the State Final to face the runner-up of either the New Castle or Evansville Reitz Semi-States. Cole is also an elite competitor in the classroom where the senior carries a near-perfect 3.96 cumulative GPA! Fantastic work on the mat and in the classroom, Cole!
