On Thursday evening, the Varsity Lady Mavs (19-3) took on the Panthers of Western High School (16-5) and came away with a solid team win with the score 58-45. The first quarter was a little slow on the offensive side of things for the Lady Mavs, as Western had the lead 10-8 at the end of one. The second quarter was filled with defense and more defense for both teams with a tie at 21 points apiece. The second half found a spark with senior Bri Mullendore scoring 7 points of her team high 15 and helped the Lady Mavs create multiple turnovers on defense. Rebounding and defense was the theme in the final 16 minutes. This win was a good tune up for sectionals next week. The final game of the regular season will take place tomorrow at West Lafayette High School for a 12:30pm tip off. The game tomorrow was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but was canceled due to the ice.
