Congratulations to AmFam Insurance - Adsity Agency Student-Athletes of the Week: Aubrey Miller & Orlando Castaneda! Aubrey, a sophomore guard on the Lady Mavs Basketball, had a stellar performance in McCutcheon's big 56-29 win over the Harrison Raiders! The standout sophomore scored 14 pts, 7 rebounds, and tallied 4 steals to help the Mavs improve to 10-2 on the year. Through the first 12 games, Ms. Miller is averaging 6.6 ppg, 5.1 rpg, and 2 steals/game! Aubrey is also outstanding in her studies where the multisport athlete carries a near-perfect 3.91 cumulative GPA! Excellent work in the classroom and on the court, Aubrey! Orlando, a junior grappler on the McCutcheon Wrestling team, had the match of the meet at last Saturday's Kyle Osborn Memorial Invitational. With the IHSAA shuffling of weight classes, Mr. Castaneda has had to wrestle off with returning senior and Semi-State qualifier, Brock Finney in the 190lbs division. Orlando went 3-0 in pool play earning another face-off with Finney in the 190 lbs Championship match. It was an epic overtime battle that had the whole gym cheering on these two Mavericks! In the end, Brock Finney won the match, but both wrestlers came away with great respect and admiration for one another. Orlando also battles tough in the classroom where the junior has earned a respectable 3.24 cumulative GPA! Outstanding job on the mat and in the classroom, Orlando!
