On Thursday night, the Lady Mavs played host to the Harrison Raiders and won in thrilling fashion and remains undefeated on the season and in NCC play (10-0, 5-0). It was a tale of two halves for the Lady Mavs, as the Raiders came out and started the game with pressure defense that caused several turnovers. The jv Lady Mavs have not had a game where a team had the lead at the end of any quarter this season. The half time score had the raiders leading by 15, 30-15. The start of the 3rd quarter was the beginning of a different game, going on an 8-0 with four steals and showing tons of fight. The Lady Mavs won the 3rd quarter by the score of 14-4 and getting themselves back in this game. The 4th quarter had much of the same result with three huge 3pt shots by Emma Wykoff (2) and Ameria Gibson (1) leading the way. The Lady Mavs won the 4th quarter by the score of 18-7. Final score of the game was in favor of the Mavs 47-41. This game proves that this team has tons of heart and grit to fight through some adversity. This was a team win from a charge taken by Claire DeFreese in a huge spot late in the 4th quarter, to the bench cheering their team on, and to the parents and fans never doubting and cheering to the last buzzer.
