Two Mavs set to play in IHSBCA North/South All-Star Series

Sammy Swank and Jake Winger will have one final opportunity to represent the Maverick Baseball program this weekend as they participate in the 51st Annual IHSBCA North/South All-Star Series at Loeb Stadium. The three-game series begins Saturday with two nine-inning games, with Game 1 scheduled to start at noon. The series concludes Sunday with a single game, also beginning at noon. Burton 2019 Connor Ayers 1996 Andrew Williams 2021 Drew Loy 1999 Nick McIntyre 2023 Brody Zimmer 2000 Steven Davis 2024 Sage Adams 2002 Drew Kochert 2025 Aiden Riser 2003 Clayton Richard 2026 Sammy Swank 2004 Nate Balser 2026 Jake Winger Swank concluded his Maverick career as a four-year letterwinner, posting a 14-4 record with a 2.08 ERA while striking out 194 batters in 124.2 innings pitched. He served as a team captain in 2025 and 2026, earned the Dan Payne Pitching Award twice (2024, 2026), was named the team's MVP in 2026, and received the Ellison Mental Attitude Award in 2026. Winger was also a four-year letterwinner and finished his career ranked among the program's top five in four offensive categories: * 2nd in doubles (34) * 4th in RBIs (92) * 5th in home runs (14) * 5th in hit by pitches (19) On the mound, Winger recorded nine wins and five saves while striking out 117 batters in 102.1 career innings pitched. He was named the team's Rookie of the Year in 2023, MVP in 2024, and served as a team captain in both 2025 and 2026.
