The Mavs used two big innings to secure a victory in Saturday's sectional opener at Loeb Stadium. After Kokomo scored a run in the top of the first inning, the Mavs responded with six runs in the bottom half. The rally was highlighted by a two-RBI single from Brodyn Sharp and a two-RBI double by Mekyel Almond. The Mavs added four more runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by Jonathan Riley's two-RBI double to left field. Almond and Riley each finished with two hits and three RBIs. Cason Trader earned his fourth win of the season, allowing two runs over four innings while striking out two and issuing no walks. The Mavs will face the Harrison Raiders in Monday's sectional championship game. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Loeb Stadium in Lafayette.
