Strong pitching and a three-run sixth inning led the Mavs (16-8) to a victory Monday in Crawfordsville. Cason Trader started for the Mavs and tossed six scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out four. Jake Winger earned the save, giving up one unearned run in the seventh. The Mavs broke a scoreless tie in the top of the sixth with two outs when Zayne Newgent drove in Rhett Clarkson with a line-drive single to right field. Jonathan Riley followed with a two-run single to cap the scoring. Newgent and Clarkson led the Mavs with two hits each. The Mavs return to action Tuesday when they travel to Greencastle for a 5:30 p.m. matchup with the Tiger Cubs.
