Strong pitching and defense, combined with opportunistic offense, led the Mavs to a 12–2 win Monday evening. Sophomore left-handers Landon Taylor and Jacoby Kas combined for six innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out five. The Mavs’ defense supported the effort by turning two double plays. Sammy Swank led the offense with two hits and two RBIs, while seven other Mavs also recorded hits. Swank, Mekyel Almond, J. Kas, and Deacon Anthorp each drove in two runs. The Mavs return to action Tuesday at home, hosting Harrison at 5:30 p.m.
