Despite collecting seven hits to the Trojans eight, the Mavs (1-1) couldn’t keep pace Friday night, falling 10–1 in their home opener at the Mav Baseball Complex. Chesterton took control early, scoring two runs in both the second and third innings before adding three more in the fourth. Timely hitting, combined with eight walks issued by the Mavs, allowed the Trojans to steadily build their lead. The Mavs return to action Saturday with a full slate at home. Crown Point visits for an 11:00 a.m. first pitch, followed by a matchup with Huntington North in the nightcap, currently scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
