Senior Mekyel Almond will continue his baseball career at Parkland College. The right-handed hitting catcher/infielder/pitcher hit .325 with 7 doubles, 3 triples and a home run while driving in 15 runs as a junior. The Cobras are members of the Mid-West Athletic Conference and compete at the NJCAA level. They finished the 2025 campaign with a 33-19 record overall and 21-11 in conference. Almond is the sixth Maverick to commit in the class of 2026 joining teammates Reed Grimes (Grace), Zayne Newgent (Manchester), Jonathan Riley (Toledo), Sammy Swank (Kentucky) and Jake Winger (Indiana).
