The game got a late start due to a lightning delay. This led to a slow start with Western scoring the only goal in the first half. The team regrouped at halftime and returned to the pitch hungry for a victory. 5′ in, Roberts flicked the ball on to Van Hook to tie up the game. About 3′ later, Ramirez sent another ball into Van Hook to put the Mavs up 2-1. Later in the half, Brigham assisted Rose’s goal which pulled the Mavs ever further ahead. The game got more heated. A foul led the Panthers to a free kick outside the box. A player on the far post tapped it in. Late in the game, a fight in the box ended in a PK after a handball. Western sent the ball just over Smith’s hands tying the game up 3-3. In a quick restart, the Roberts sent Van Hook in for the winning goal as well as the completion of her hat-trick. The Mavs left with their heads held high from a second half of Mav P.R.I.D.E. and of course, the W.
