Mavericks News · Coach Woody Honored by Greater Lafayette Commerce

Coach Woody is known for growing a community of people to work on bettering their minds and bodies through physical fitness

McCutcheon’s own strength and conditioning coach, Lucas Woody, was recognized this past week with a very prestigious award. Coach Woody won “Small Business of the Month” recognition from the Greater Lafayette Commerce organization.  Greater Lafayette Commerce is a highly respected networking group that helps small businesses like Coach Woody’s own, Human Movement and Rehabilitation, gain a strong foothold in the local economy.  Recently, Forbes Magazine rated the Lafayette area as the #2 Best Community in the US for Small Business (2018).

The Greater Lafayette Commerce mission to help out small businesses and the local community started in 1927 and has been giving “Small Business of the Month” awards since 1993. For the ceremony, Coach Woody was greeted by both State Representative Sheila Klinker and Mayor Tony Roswarski who recognized him for his commitment to the Lafayette community.

Along with raising a growing family and operating his own business, Coach Woody also raises funds and volunteers for the Junior Achievement program.  Every week Coach Woody is in one of our McCutcheon classrooms during the school day helping young students develop the soft skills necessary to find and develop gainful employment.

The Maverick community is proud of the work Coach Woody has done for our faculty and students.  He is a shining example of what it means to be a Mav. Thanks for helping us move better, and be better, every day!
