McCutcheon Golf Season opens
Mavs tee up for a promising season
The McCutcheon Boys Golf team has high expectations heading into the 2017 golf season after a decisive win in its first home match against Rossville. The Mavs won 158 to 175 at the Ravines Golf Course. The JV team shot an impressive 169. The medalist for the match was junior Spencer Craft who shot a 36, even par for nine holes.
Head Coach Josh Frauhiger, in his second season with the Mavs, has a 17-player roster that includes five seasoned seniors and plenty of talent from several new and returning players.
The 2017 roster includes: Beau Ashcraft, Haden Deaton, Gavin Dunbar, Noah Gaeta, Adam Oaks, Spencer Craft, Colby Phebus, Jarrett Rhine, Jalen Barker, Clint Garriott, Brett Hartman, James Sanders, Jeffery Cook, Tyler Cornell, Dylan Dexter, Corbin Moore, and Jonathan Wendall.
"We are excited about our prospects this season with a mix of returnees and newcomers to the team," says Coach Frauhiger. "We have several players who are confident in their game and have been playing in tournaments. I think we are going to be very competitive."
The five seniors on the team include Beau Ashcraft, Haden Deaton, Gavin Dunbar, Noah Gaeta and Adam Oaks. "The seniors embrace the challenge of the sport and demonstrate great sportsmanship and leadership on the team," says Frauhiger.
