2016-17 Athletic Honor Society

Saturday, February 18th

Tonight we had the opportunity to recognize fourteen student athletes who were inducted into the McCutcheon Athletic Honor Society. 

IN 2015 THE MCCUTCHEON ATHLETIC COACHES, WANTING TO RECOGNIZE OUR STUDENT ATHLETES WHO EXCEL ATHLETICALLY, ACADEMICALLY, AND WITHIN THE COMMUNITY, CREATED THE MCCUTCHEON ATHLETIC HONOR SOCIETY.  TO BECOME A MEMBER OF THE MCCUTCHEON ATHLETIC SOCIETY A STUDENT ATHLETE MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:

  • MINIMUM CUMULATIVE GPA AFTER 7 SEMESTERS OF 3.5
  • PARTICIPATED IN ATHLETICS FOR FOUR YEARS
  • EARNED A MINIMUM OF TWO VARSITY LETTERS
  • PARTICIPATE IN A TEAM COMMUNITY SERCIVE PROJECT
  • VOLUNTEERED IN THE COMMUNITY FOR A MINIMUM OF 30 HOURS.
  • AND FINALLY, MUST BE RECOMMENDED BY A MCCUTCHEON COACH AND TEACHER.

 2016-17 Inductees:

Tyson Scheumann

Tyson participated in four years of basketball, four years of baseball, and one year in football.  He has a 4.0 cumulative GPA.  Tyson has volunteered for Indiana Special Olympics (Maverick Monster Mash & Boo Bash), McCutcheon Youth Sports, & Baseball Fundraisers.  His future plans include playing baseball at Purdue University while studying kinesiology before attending medical school.  

Konnor Breitlander

Konnor participated in three years of cross country and four years in swimming.  He has a 3.9 cumulative GPA.  Konnor has volunteered working gate at McCutcheon High School.  His future plans include studying pre-med or business at Purdue University.  

Karlie Denson

Karlie has participated on the Lady Mavs Soccer Team for four years.  She has a 4.0 cumulative GPA.  Karlie has volunteered with the Alzheimer's Walk, Maverick Monster Mash, Special Olympics, & the McCutcheon Athletic Department.  Karlie's future plans include attending IU to study special education.

Macy Gates

Macy has participated three years in gymnastics, two years in diving, and one year in cheer.  She has countless hours volunteering with the Maverick Monster Mash, gymnastics clinics, cheer clinics, & Natlaies Second Chance.  Macy has a 3.9 cumulative GPA.  Her future plans include attending IUPUI to study criminal justice/sociology.

Andrew Holland

Andrew has participated for three years on the Maverick Soccer Team.  He has a 3.6 cumulative GPA.  Andrew has voluntered his time at Food Finders Food Bank & coaching youth soccer. His future plans include attending IU majoring in law & public policy.

Allison Jeffires

Allison has participated in volleyball & as a student athletic trainer.  Her cumulative GPA is 3.6.  Allison has volunteered for the MHS Athletic Department as well as participated in the Roundtable Wellness Walk.  Allison's future plans include studying human & health sciences at Purdue University.

Makayla Merryman

Makayla particiapted in track & field for two years and soccer for four years.  Her cumulative GPA is 3.92.  Makayla has volunteered her efforts for three years organizing the Maverick Monster Mash.  She has also participated in the local Alzheimer's Walk.  Her future plans include playing soccer and studying accounting at Lipscomb University.

Allissa Russell

Allissa partipated in cross country for three years.  Her cumulative GPA is 4.0.  During her time at MHS Allissa has volunteered for the McCutcheon Athletic Department, participated in team road side clean up community service, Boo Bash/Maverick Monster Mash, Dancing in the Streets, and at a local hospital.  Allissa's future plans include studying biology at Purdue University.

Laura Shake

Laura has participated in four years of basketball, three years in track & field, and three years in soccer.  She has a 3.8 cumulative GPA.  Laura has volunteered/community service hours at Judilee Christmas, Lil Mavs BKB, & Veteran's Home.  Her future plans include studying physical therapy and playing soccer at the University of Indianapolis.

Megan Skadberg

Megan has participated in four years of soccer, three years in tennis, and one year in cheer.  Megan carries a 4.0 cumulative GPA.  She has volunteered at for the Maverick Monster Mash & youth cheer clinis.  Her future plans include attending Inidana University with a major in finance.

Carson Smith

Carson has participated in four years of tennis and baseball.  He has a 3.84 cumulative GPA.  During his time at MHS Carson has volunteered at the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, Judilee Christmas, Cole Carnival, Dayton Carnival, Feast of the Huter's Moon, and for McCutcheon Youth Baseball.  Carson's future plans include attending Purdue, Butler, or West Point with plans to study management or finance.

Adrienne Sowers

Adrienne participated for four years in volleyball.  She carries a 4.0 cumulative GPA.  During her time at MHS Adrienne has volunteered at the Columbia Park Zoo, Lil Mavs VB, and with team community service projects such as the Lafayette Nutrition Wellness Walk.  Her future plans include attending Purdue University majoring in health and human services.  

Jordan Nakaguchi

Jordan has participated in soccer for four years.  She carries a 3.98 cumulative GPA.  During her time at MHS Jordan has volunteered with the Maverick Monster Mash, SIA Alzheimer Walk, LUM, Horse & Pony Open Shows, & Community Dinner.  Her future plans include attending Franklin to study accounting and hopefully playing soccer. 

Haley Crowe

Haley has participated in four years of track and four years in soccer.  She holds a 3.86 cumulative GPA.  Haley has volunteered for youth soccer camps, SIA Alzheimer's Walk, Maverick Monster Mash, for the athletic department, at Mayflower Mill, & Roadside clean up.  Her future plans include attending Butler or Purdue majoring in physical therapy.  

Victoria Hetzel

Victoria has particpated in four years of tennis.  She holds a 3.96 cumulative GPA.  Victoria has participated in volunteer efforts such as the Maverickk Monster Mash and in the MHS Athletic Department.  Her future plans include attending Purdue University with a major in English Education.

"Athletes with goals succeed because they know where they are going."  Each of these recipients have continually displayed the best in both the classroom and their respective sports.  It is an honor to be a part of recognizing such extraordinary student athletes.  Congratulations on your induction and continued success!
