The JV Mavs traveled to Highland Park to take on Kokomo in a Doubleheader Wednesday night. Game 1 led to a victory by a score of 9-0. Zayne Newgent and Aidan Piechnik combined for the shutout allowing only 2 hits in their 5 innings of work. Jonah Fritchley, Cason Trader, Bryce Wickstrom, Mason Jones, Kaden Sharp, and Zach Morgan all drove in runs throughout the game. Game 2 was a little more interesting late for the Mavs. Reed Grimes threw 4 scoreless innings allowing only 2 hits and fanning 8 Wildkats to lead 3-0 after 4. Sam Hoggard, Brodyn Sharp, and Bryce Wickstrom all contributed RBI's for the Mavs. Kokomo answered by scoring 3 in the bottom of the 5th to tie the game and send it to an extra inning. In the top half of the extra frame Jackson Savage singled scoring 2 runs to take a 5-3 lead. Ryker Eaton slammed the door shut on the Kats striking out all 3 hitters he faced in the bottom half to send the Mavs home 2-0 on the night. The JV Mavs are next in action as they host Brebeuf in a Saturday doubleheader at the Mav Baseball Complex starting at 11am.
